What to Expect
Medical Consultation
Your journey starts with a thorough consultation. We’ll take the time to understand your condition, review any past treatments or test results, and consider any risk factors.
From there, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that’s tailored to your goals, lifestyle, and timeline—so you can move forward with confidence.
Ultrasound-Guided Injections
Some injuries or conditions respond best to targeted treatments delivered right to the source of pain. Using ultrasound guidance, we can precisely inject treatments into joints, tendons, or soft tissue.
These May Include:
- Corticosteroid injections – to reduce inflammation and pain
- Hyaluronic acid (HA) – to help cushion and lubricate joints
- Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) – to support natural healing
- Needle fenestration or barbotage – techniques to stimulate tissue repair
Team-Based Care at The Lab
As a patient, you’ll have coordinated access to:
- Physiotherapy
- Chiropractic care
- Osteopathy
- Massage therapy
- Performance training

The Lab Services
The Lab Services Include:
Injury Diagnosis & Medical Assessment
Imaging Referrals (X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI)
Ultrasound-Guided Muscle & Joint Injections
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection
PRP uses a concentrated sample of your own blood, rich in healing platelets and growth factors, to stimulate tissue repair in injured muscles, tendons, and joints. Promotes natural healing without steroids or surgery.
Commonly used for:
- Chronic tendinopathies (e.g. patellar, Achilles, tennis elbow)
- Mild-to-moderate joint arthritis
- Muscle tears and ligament sprains
Cortisone (Corticosteroid) Injection
Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication used to quickly reduce pain and swelling in joints or around tendons. Provides rapid relief to keep them training or competing — often used short-term or to support rehab progression.
Commonly used for:
Joint inflammation (e.g. shoulder, knee, ankle)
Bursitis
Severe tendinopathies causing pain that limits rehab
Hyaluronic Acid (Viscosupplementation) Injection
This gel-like substance mimics the natural fluid in your joints, helping to lubricate and cushion cartilage — often used for arthritic or “grindy” joints. Reduces joint friction and discomfort without affecting tissue structure — often used as a longer-term solution than cortisone.
Commonly used for:
Knee osteoarthritis
Joint wear-and-tear in high-impact athletes
Fenestration (Dry Needling/Needle Tenotomy)
Fenestration involves using a fine needle to make controlled micro-injuries in a chronically damaged tendon to stimulate a healing response. Targets stubborn tendon issues with precision — often paired with PRP for best results.
Commonly used for:
Chronic tendinopathies that haven’t responded to loading
Thickened or degenerative tendon tissue (e.g. Achilles, patellar, gluteal)
Return to Sport Medical Clearance
Comprehensive medical clearance for athletes post-injury, ensuring they meet the physical and functional benchmarks for a safe return to competition.
