The Lab’s 5-Year Anniversary: Free Community 5K

Celebrate five years of The Lab with a free, family-friendly 5K that begins and ends at our facility — but the run is only the start. After crossing the finish line, join us for an open-house style celebration with local vendors, giveaways, prizes, and plenty of space for the whole community to connect and enjoy the day.

Event Details

The Lab’s five-year anniversary is more than just a run. It’s a community celebration and open-house.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, we’ll kick off the morning with a free 5K at 9:00 a.m. The race starts and finishes at The Lab, giving everyone a chance to experience our facility and join in the festivities. We encourage participants to arrive a little early for check-in, bib pickup, and a chance to explore before the run begins.

This event is designed for the whole community. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering, you’ll also find food, local vendors, and activities waiting for you at The Lab. Think of it as a morning where fitness meets fun, with plenty of reasons to stick around after the race.

Participation is completely free. All we ask is that you sign up in advance using the registration link so we can plan for check-in, water, and post-race treats. Once you’re registered, you’ll receive updates by email with route maps, parking details, and announcements about vendors and giveaways. And if you have any questions leading up to the event, just send us an email and our team would love to hear from you.

What to expect

This is an easygoing neighborhood 5K designed for every level. The route is flat and straightforward. Strollers are welcome. We will have a water station on the course and hydration at the finish. Plan to arrive with enough time for check-in and a quick warm-up near the start line.

Prizes, games, and giveaways

We will recognize top finishers with prizes and keep the fun going with games and spot giveaways after the race. Throughout the morning, we will raffle gift cards for Lab services and a few surprise items. You do not need to be fast to win something. Being here counts.

Food and Vendors

Local partners will be on site with coffee, snacks, and pop-ups. We will update this page as
companies confirm and include links to their websites and social channels so you can see what
they offer.

If you are a local business and want to participate, email The Lab for details.

Family friendly

Bring the whole crew. Kids will find easy spots to cheer along the route and a small activity area near the finish. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome outdoors.

Schedule Overview

Check-in and bib pickup open before the start so everyone has time to settle in. The 5K begins
at 9:00 a.m. Awards, games, and giveaways follow the finish. Food and vendors will be
available through the late morning so you can hang out and connect with neighbors.

Riley Dane

(Registered Massage Therapist)

RMT, Hons. BA Kin

I started out in this field because I was inspired by the care and sports rehab that I received when I was an athlete. From competitive gymnastics to soccer to varsity track and field, I’ve been in and out of my fair share of clinics!

I have a passion for helping people return to doing what they love. Whether that be sports, recreational activity, or returning to a pain-free everyday life. I want to work as a team with each individual to create a treatment that fits their mental and physical needs. I believe that exercise and activity is an essential component of wellbeing and want my clients to be able to engage in these activities without compromise.

Education-wise I went to Western (GO STANGS!) for my undergrad, earning a Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Kinesiology and followed that with a Diploma of Massage Therapy from Sutherland-Chan.

In my spare time, I like to lift weights, read, play volleyball and spend time with family. I’m a huge sports fan, especially the Leafs, Raps and Jays!
